Filminera Resources Corporation and Phil Gold Processing and Refining Corporation, two companies that operate in the Masbate Gold Project site in Aroroy Masbate, donate Php2.2M worth of family emergency kits to Albay residents who are affected by the unrest and increase of pyroclastic flow of the Mayon volcano. This brings the total donation of Filminera, Phil Gold and GlobalMedic to calamity-sticken areas to Php6.8M since the start of their partnership in 2021. Earlier this year, they have donated fire-fighting gears and 1,584 family emergency kits to fire departments in Manila, Masbate and Leyte worth Php3.2M. During Typhoon Rolly in 2021 and Typhoon Odette in 2022, they have also given emergency kits worth Php1.4M to typhoon victims.
This most recent donation of family emergency kits from GlobalMeric arrived in May 2023 from Ontario, Canada, and were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 5, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in Masbate, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO ) in Aroroy, and Philippine Society of Mining Engineers, Inc. (PSEM) Albay / Legazpi Chapter.
The kits were distributed in Matanag, Mabinit at Bonga Evacuation Areas in Legazpi City, Gabawan Evacuation Area in Daraga and Comun Elementary School in Camalig.
Each kit contained solar lights, household water filtration system containing two water buckets with lids, spigot, sponge, and filter, and hygiene kits with several pieces of soap, toothbrush, and toothpaste.
The Tabang Bicol Relief Operations in Camalig, a joint project of Filminera, Phil Gold, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau and the local government unit of Camalig Albay, also distributed food buckets along with the family emergency kits worth Php 500,000 to families in several barangays in Camalig such as Anoling, Taladong, Cumon and Bungkaras.
