Since commencing mining operations in Masbate 16 years ago, Filminera Resources Corporation has become one of the country’s largest operating gold ventures. Filminera is the mining operator  in the Masbate Gold Project (MGP) located in Aroroy, Masbate Province. Filminera holds mineral tenements located along a splay of the Pliocene Philippine Fault System, and the rights and applications to thousands  of hectares. It sells the mined ore to Phil. Gold Processing & Refining Corporation

Biodiversity, environmental protection, and safety are priorities for Filminera. In 2017, Filminera’s programs gained the attention of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) which conferred its Saringaya Award to Filminera for the company’s conservation and management in the ecology of Aroroy. In 2022, Filminera won the Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan national silver award and was named Region 5 OSH Champion.

The majority of the employees and contractors of Filminera are residents of the host barangays. Filminera’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) has a tremendous impact on local educational and health services, infrastructure and support systems, entrepreneurial development and marketing, and the protection and respect of social and cultural values.
